Identifying Custom Triggers¶
If you have a customized Zendrum or have added additional triggers, then will need to match up those triggers to the on-screen versions. The best way to do this is to hook up your Zendrum© to your computer using a MIDI® interface.
Please note that in order for Zendrum Studio to be able to accurately detect which trigger is which, both it and the Zendrum must be using an unmodified, factory default user setup. If you are not sure if that is the case, then the following steps can be preformed:
- We'll be resetting user setup #1. If there are settings on your Zendrum for setup #1 that you wish to keep, then you should backup your Zendrum's SysEx first
- Select user setup #1 within Zendrum Studio
- Select
Setups -> Reset to Factory Defaults
from the main menu - Transmit these new settings to your Zendrum
Once you know that setup #1 is set to the factory defaults both within Zendrum Studio and on your Zendrum, then perform the following to properly identify your triggers:
- On the MIDI settings pane, enable Highlight incoming MIDI messages
- Unlock the trigger positions from the menu
Triggers -> Unlock Positions
- Physically tap a trigger on your Zendrum and watch which one lights up within Zendrum Studio
- If the trigger that lit up is not in the expected location, drag it to the correct area
- Repeat for each trigger on your Zendrum until each trigger in Zendrum Studio correctly matches it
Be sure to save your file when done. You can now use this file as a template when creating new Zendrum Studio files (by first opening it and then using Save As from the File menu).
