Channel Mappings

The channel mappings preference pane displays a grid of 16 dropdown controls, one for each MIDI^® channel. Use these to select which mapping to use for each channel.

You only need to make selections for the channels that you are using. It is not necessary to make a selection for each and every channel. Most likely you will only need one for channel 10 (which is typically used for drums).

Any MIDI channel can be used for any purpose. Some common channel assignments are:
